Why pay for website hosting? |
Internet ServicesIt doesn't seem to really depend on the size of the business when it comes to the question of getting something for free or paying for it. With the question of website (and email) hosting this seems to be an area where many people don't fully appreciate the value of what they could be paying for. I still see businesses who have very professional marketing provision and yet still have a printed and publicised email address of 'david.jones123@yahoo.com'. It is only really a small step to have a domain name registered, have it hosted and then move to an improved position with an email address of 'david@mybusiness.com'. You can get the same access to emails via the web, on your phone or office PC and you instantly give a more professional image to match the services and products you supply. The same can go for website hosting when a business uses an off-the-shelf template website that is hosted by the provider (often for free). The viewed website can look good enough but the ability to have someone get in and add technical features to the site or just move that one section on the page to a different place etc., this can be where your freedom ends. Then there is the ability to move your completed website to a different host? Also, the support for when you have any technical problems can vary tremendously when you are not paying for anything. So, the very simple retort to this question is that you can go a certain distance with a website hosted (and possibly designed) for free. If you want to allow your business to develop and grow into the effective organisation it can be, then investing a small annual amount will bring extra freedom with the use of technology as well as the consulting input from your expert provider (me). Wherever you are with your website hosting, get in touch and we can talk about where you could be. How can I help you?
