Do midwives always deliver on time? |
Project ManagementI don't want to respond to this question with a medical discussion but by making a comparison to the delivery of strategic, creative marketing solutions. What similarities are there and what lessons can be learnt? The term of a pregnancy is pretty well fixed (give or take a week or so). At the beginning the delivery date seems such a long way off and you seem to have such a lot of time on hand! As the scope of a creative project starts to reveal the actual details you are then well into the development process and there is no starting again. You hope that the design and functional specifications were sensible and the projected timescales allowed are realistic. The pregnancy develops and there are moments of discomfort and times of excitement. You are learning about your own abilities and being tested with new challenges. The stakeholders of the project begin to provide feedback about your work and the new mother is kicked and prodded by the the stranger inside. Eventually the time for the final reveal is here and there is now no turning back! So when the nature appointment date and time arrives, yes the midwife delivers on time. There is no, "please can I have another few days", or "I'll upload that for you this afternoon." Are we close to imitating this most well observed, naturally occurring project management process? How can I help you?
Please see the examples of my typical project management services shown below.
